Fitzy Is Back With His Slight Dogs

In a battle of teams who ended their 2015 seasons by taking a big dump in their pants, our beloved New York Jets host the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium. Back in April, I told everyone to take a chill-pill on the "tough slate" talk, and now that the year is here, I feel even stronger about that. Mikey Mac and Coach Bowles have Gang Green ready to compete against their strong early season opponents, and that will begin to be displayed at 1:00 PM today.

Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones are definitely NFL receivers, but I do think too much is being made about their departures. The Bengals have done a good job constructing their roster, and they will find suitable replacements. Tyler Boyd will eventually replace one of these cats, but today is not the day for his emergence, and I can guran-damn-tee you that Brand LaFell won't be making any sort of positive impact today, or at any point in the season. With Eifert out, that only leaves AJ Green to look for, when the Ging drops back to pass. But, the bad news for him is that Revis Island begins his 2016 redemption today, and god-forbid that redemption stumbles, the other limited receiving options will allow the Jets to float help Darrelle's way. Dump-offs to Gio will only advance the ball so far against Gang Green's top-flight defense.

Speaking of Gio, this Gio-Hill combo will once again provide a strong rushing attack behind the good Bengals offensive line, but don't expect that to begin today. The best way to fight fire, is with fire, and the Jet defensive line is FIRE. With all due respect to Snacks, this unit will be even better than they were last year. Sheldon is sitting this one out, but Mo and Leonard are ready to showcase their group today. Plus, they have done it without Sheldon to start the year before.

On the offensive side of the football, Fitzy and his crew will get to prove they can move the ball against a top-tier defense. Marshall and Decker will do the sort of things that Marshall and Decker do (#analysis), and Clay's favorite back, Bilal Powell, will start his 2016 breakout year through his receiving prowess. With all due respect to a NYMWS guy, Chris Ivory, Matt Forte will demonstrate today why he is an upgrade for the Chan Gailey offense.

The Jets' Week 1 win streak reaches six today. The line has done some moving overnight, but that won't matter.

JETS (+1.5) 27 - Bengals 13
